We are not demons – Nogokpo PRO

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Nogokpo Chiefs, Chief Nafiala Mawufemor Korbla Nornyibey has clarified that the people of Nogokpo are not demons, nor is Nogopko itself the Headquarters of Demons as perceived by some Ghanaians.

This follows the ongoing feud between the Chiefs of Nogokpo and Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, founder of Perez Chapel International, after the latter described the place as the headquarters of demons in one of his preachings.

At the Summit held recently at the headquarters of Perez Chapel in Accra, the Archbishop preached about divine protection and the existence of evil forces and cited several examples to support his teaching.

Following the publication of the video online, the Church leader has come under heavy criticism in the media, resulting in reaction from the people of Nogokpo, including statements from the Dufia of Nogokpo, Torgbi Saba V.

Other prominent people from the area, including Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South, asked for an apology over the Archbishop’s comment.

Mr Jonas Fotor Agbagba, Assembly member for Nogokpo/Atsivuta said people had misconceptions about the community, famous for its traditions and powerful shrine, Zakadza.

But during a sermon at his Church on Sunday in Accra, May 28, the Archbishop said, his comments were never meant to denigrate the people of Nogokpo and the Volta Region.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Nana Yaw Fianko, Nafiala Mawufemor Korbla Nornyibey said Archbishop Charles Agyinasare did not only disrespect the people of Nogokpo but the entire Voltarians.

Despite making Archbishop Charles Agyinasare aware of the harm he has caused and calling him to apologise, he said the Chiefs of Nogokpo do not fight physically and that they will leave everything to the gods to fight for them if the Man of God fails to make amends.

“We are not demons! Moreover, the Volta Region or Nogokpo is not a demon’s residence or headquarters, which is why we are inviting him; we have given him a 14-day ultimatum to come to the leaders, as Nogokpo has 16 communities. He should come and pinpoint the location of the entities or their headquarters so that we can purify the land and claim it”. He stated, “This is not a place where we tolerate negativity.”
