The wearing of smock has been banned in Bawku township.
This development follows a decision taken by the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) during an emergency meeting.
A statement signed by the Upper East Regional Minister says the ban is with immediate effect.

“Following the decision taken by REGSEC during the emergency meeting, the wearing of smock in Bawku township has been banned with immediate effect. This was necessitated by the fact that criminals or unscrupulous elements hide arms and ammunitions in smocks and attack opponents or innocent civilians,” excepts of the statement read.
