The President of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, has debunked media reports that the association has endorsed a presidential candidate.
In an exclusive interview with Atinka News’, GUTA President Dr Joseph Obeng said, “It is not our business to endorse any presidential candidate. It is the right of the Ghanaian citizens to decide who leads them.
According to him, GUTA is only interested in advancing the interests of its members by demanding better policies from political leaders
Dr. Obeng said GUTA wants better policies that will lead to the reduction of inflation rates, and taxes finding ways to build modern satellite markets to help market women, reducing high rent, and bringing down our rate of borrowing.
While the vice president and current flag bearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to introduce the flat rate tax system, the Former president and current flag bearer for the NDC, John Dramani Mahama is also proposing a fixed tax system.
The GUTA president said these solutions are needed to help bring down inflation and high taxes to help the Ghanaian citizen
He maintained that GUTA will continue to engage all political parties so long as they are on the right track with policies.
According to him GUTA is focused and fair and not aligned to any political party but has directed its members nationwide to welcome all political parties for constructive engagement as the 2024 election approaches.
