Wisconsin Business Students Shine in Maiden National Banking and Ethics Challenge

A team of six Level 300 students from the Business School of Wisconsin International University College Ghana (WIUC-GH) have made the institution proud by emerging as the second runner-up in the maiden 2025 National Banking and Ethics Challenge, organized by the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), Ghana.

The prestigious competition, which drew participation from top tertiary institutions across the country, aimed to promote financial literacy and instill strong ethical standards in future leaders of the banking and financial services sector.

Wisconsin University edged out notable competitors including the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and Pentecost University, who placed fourth and fifth respectively. The Academic City University took the ultimate prize, followed closely by University of Ghana.

Held under the theme of ethical banking and financial literacy, the challenge tested participants on a wide range of thematic areas, including regulatory frameworks, ethical dilemmas in banking, emerging financial technologies, and sustainable finance practices.

The event provided a vibrant platform for students to engage in real-world financial problem-solving, enhancing their analytical, ethical, and presentation skills.

According to the Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Mr. Robert Dzato, this competition reaffirms the Institute’s vision to transform banking education and deepen financial literacy in Ghana.

The Wisconsin team, who competed with great zeal and professionalism, was led by their Dean, Dr. Bright Mawudor, and Business School Challenge Coordinator, Dr. Addae. After the competition, the team proudly presented their award to the university’s management.

The Vice President and Acting President of WIUC-GH, Dr. Lawrence Kannae, received the award on behalf of the institution and congratulated the students for their outstanding performance.

“This is a great achievement for Wisconsin. You have made the university proud, and we commend your dedication, discipline, and hard work,” Dr. Kannae remarked. “Let this success serve as a springboard for even greater accomplishments. Continue to aim higher and bring more laurels to our university.”

The challenge marks a significant milestone for Wisconsin International University College Ghana, reinforcing its commitment to producing business leaders with strong ethical values and a solid understanding of the financial sector.
