Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will visit Ghana from the 25th -26th of April 2023. Whiles in Ghana, she will meet policymakers, business leaders and civil society.
She will underscore the WTO’s commitment to further reinforcing its support to Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Director-General will hold a series of meetings with the leadership of the Country. She
will also meet with President Nana Akufo-Addo and will participate in a Discussion on the
theme “Making Globalization Work for Africa”.
The programme will be organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs. She will also interact with female entrepreneurs during her visit.
“I am very much looking forward to my visit to Africa. Africa is a vital part of the membership of the WTO. I look forward to strengthening our partnership with countries in the region,” the Director-General said ahead of her trip.
“African economies have taken major steps towards economic integration over the last few years at a time when the global trade landscape is changing rapidly. We must make sure we all work together to help our members in Africa take advantage of the opportunities offered by re-globalisation.”
