Yendi: Police Apprehend suspected Kidnapper

Police in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region have arrested a suspected kidnapper by name Mohamadu who lured one Amadu Abubakari aged 10 to a hideout.
Report by police at Kintampo in the Bono East Region indicated that Mahamadu, who happens to be a heardsman of the victim’s father, and a native of Yendi took the victim alongside the cattle of his father to the Bush for grazing.
He later called the victim’s father to inform him that his Boy has been kidnapped.
Suspect Mahamuda later fled from Kintampo in the Bono East Region to Yendi Municipality in the Northern Region.

Earlier this week on 8th January, 2020 upon a tip off, the Police in Yendi quickly moved to the hideout and arrested the suspect when he went to withdraw a ransom of 10.000.00 cedis that was paid in his MoMo wallet by victim’s father out of the 20.000.00 ransom that was demanded.
Upon further investigation, the suspect confessed he had an accomplice by name Tahidu, 25 years of age who is a Burkinabe resident at Sabari who was also subsequently arrested.
The Divisional police commander of Yendi, ACP Peter Ayirezang who confirmed the arrest to Atinka news revealed that the victim’s uncle was also a suspect in the kidnap scandal whom the police in the Bono East are currently on the look out for.
He said prior to the kidnap, the victim’s father was admitted at the hospital after involving in a road accident.
The suspects and the victim were yesterday transferred to the Tamale Police headquarters for further investigation.
