You always had womens right at heart – Konadu eulogizes Rawlings

The widow of the former President Jerry John Rawlings,  Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, says her husband had the rights of women at heart.

This was revealed in a tribute read on behalf of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings by her daughter Princess Amina Agyemang Rawlings at the final funeral ceremony at the Black Stars Square on Wednesday January 27.

Konadu, who is herself an activist for the rights of women, said her husband  supported the fight for women’s right during and after his tenure as  Head of state.

“With your help and support we were able to make the fight for the rights of women a reality,” Amina added.

Touching on their marriage, she said it is an undeniable fact that God created the two of them to be together and be there for each other.

“Jerry, I know God created us for each other and today we make a formidable team, notwithstanding the ups and downs of life. We believe in each other and in our dream of making Ghana, a country we could all be proud of”, she said.

“To me, you were and will always be Jerry, my love, my life partner, my friend, you worked for Ghana… I say farewell”, she added.

Former President of the Republic of Ghana and founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, died after battling a short illness.

Jerry John Rawlings died at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 73.

He left behind a wife and four Children.
