Zoomlion Ghana limited has on Monday, 4th January 2021, exhibited a fleet a disinfection equipments as well as manpower in readiness for 2021 COVID 19 fight.
The short ceremony took place at the independence square in Accra.
During the exhibition exercise, Zoomlion Ghana Limited displayed publicly, state of the art disinfection equipment to state officials, as the country prepares to slowly reopen for normal business.
The program was attended by government officials, including the Minister for Water and Sanitation, Ghana Health Service and the ministry of Education.
It will be recalled that the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on Sunday 3rd January 2021 in his state of the nations address indicated that schools from Kindergarten to Universities will be reopened in the second week of January 2021.
However, before the schools are opened, there will be a national disinfection exercise of all schools to ensure that the schools are safe for students.
It is in this light that Zoomlion, the leading COVID 19 fighters (outdoor disinfection and fumigation) have reassured government of their readiness and preparedness to take up the task of ensuring the safe reopening of schools.
In a statement, the Chief Operating Officer of Zoomlion, Madam Gloria Aunty reassured government and the people of Ghana of Zoomlion’s readiness and capacity to ensure that schools across the country reopen safely.
She indicated that the chemicals used by Zoomlion in their fumigation and disinfection exercises are WHO and Noguchi certified.

Currently, Zoomlion has in its possession some 50 atomized vehicles, 10 state of the art disinfection trucks, some 5000 spraying machines as well as 7000 spraying guns and hand held fumigation machines in readiness of the disinfection exercise.
The director of Ghana Health Service, Mr Patrick Aboagye gave some updates on Ghana’s current COVID 19 numbers.
According to him, Ghana has recorded a total of 55,220 cases and conducted more than 600,000 tests as at 1st January 2021.
Currently, Ghana has some 879 active cases, majority (52%) of which are in Accra. He also revealed that the savanna, Oti, Western North and the Bono region are part of some five regions that have no active cases so far.

He also reassured the public that government has far advanced plans to procure a safe and effective vaccine, which will be ready within the year and made available for distribution.
Background
Following the outbreak of the coronavirus infection last year, government, through the ministry of local government, ministry of Health and the ministry of water and sanitation embarked on a national disinfection of all public spaces including schools, markets and stations.
In all, more than 30,000 schools, 6000 markets as well as 5000 churches and mosques were disinfected in line with WHO and GHS guidelines.
As schools prepare to reopen in the second week of January following the president’s announcement, there will be another phase of disinfection to prepare the various schools for a safe reopening.
