Ghana Paralympic team members vanish after landing in Norway for marathon event

After landing in Norway to compete in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo, all members of Ghana’s paralympic team have vanished.

A statement from the Ministry of National Security has confirmed the unfortunate and embarrassing incident.

The team landed in Oslo on April 25th, 2024, to take part in the marathon but failed to register for the event.

In late April, Norwegian security officials arrested and detained Nana Antwi, a team member, after she attempted to leave Norway for Sweden, according to a statement from National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The document further disclosed that George Gyamfi Gyasi, the team coach, collapsed and was admitted to the Oslo University Hospital, but later died on May 17, 2024.

The Norwegian Embassy in Accra has issued alerts to other Schengen and West Diplomatic Missions in Accra to help apprehend and repatriate the team members.”
