Investigators probing the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), have made a significant breakthrough after retrieving her laptop and mobile phone.
According to a statement from the university’s Office of the Registrar, the electronic devices were discovered hidden behind Flint Hostel on campus. The discovery was made possible through the analysis of CCTV footage from the hostel’s security system.
Authorities believe these items could provide crucial evidence to aid in the ongoing investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, Daniel Tuffuor, a 21-year-old final-year student and the prime suspect in the case, remains in police custody. He was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested his remand to allow for further investigations. The court granted the request, and Tuffuor is expected to reappear in court on March 17, 2025.
The case has sparked widespread concern on campus, with students calling for enhanced security measures. KNUST authorities have assured the university community of their commitment to ensuring safety while cooperating fully with law enforcement.
