The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana and the Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) have formally partnered to support young food innovation entrepreneurs in bringing safe, high-quality products to market.

This collaboration seeks to bridge the gap between innovative food products and legal requirements, ensuring that start-ups nationwide meet the strictest safety and quality standards.

Key Highlights of the Partnership:

Mentorship & Training: Start-ups will receive guidance on the FDA certification process, enabling them to launch their products faster.
Regulatory Support: The FDA will provide specialized assistance to help businesses navigate compliance requirements.
Market Competitiveness: Entrepreneurs will be equipped to meet global standards, opening doors to new markets and opportunities.

KIC Executive Director, Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, emphasized the impact of this partnership during the MOU signing ceremony:

“By supporting start-ups achieve FDA certification, we are ensuring that their products meet global standards, create access to new markets and opportunities while safeguarding the health and safety of consumers.”

Similarly, FDA CEO Dr. Delese Mimi Darko reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to MSMEs, highlighting its role beyond enforcement:

“As regulators with a difference, the FDA is not only focused on enforcement but also on empowering MSMEs to meet compliance standards and bring their products to market with ease. This commitment is embodied in our Progressive Licensing Scheme.”

Additionally, she emphasized the role of the FDA’s Industrial Support Directorate, which offers targeted support to regulated industries, ensuring businesses can effectively manage regulatory requirements.

This partnership marks a new era for food innovation in Ghana, reinforcing FDA Ghana’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial growth while maintaining product quality and consumer safety.
