A powerful rainstorm that swept across parts of the country on Sunday has led to widespread power outages, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) announced.
The storm, which brought intense rainfall and strong winds, caused damage to portions of the ECG’s power distribution network, resulting in electricity supply disruptions in several communities.
In a statement issued today, ECG expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured the public that engineers have been deployed and are working diligently to identify and repair faults in the affected areas.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the heavy rainstorm that hit parts of the country today, Sunday, 18th May, 2025, has caused some outages within our network,” the statement read.
“ECG wishes to assure all affected customers that our engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore power supply. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”
Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain patient and stay safe as restoration efforts continue. The ECG also urged customers to report any persistent issues or hazards through their official customer service channels.
