The newly appointed District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for Gomoa East, Mr. Hassan Hamidu, has called on the government to urgently provide additional personnel and invest in proper drainage systems to address the recurring flooding challenges in the district.
Speaking during a handover ceremony at the Gomoa East District Assembly in Potsin, Mr. Hamidu told Atinka News reporter Samuel Nyamekye Jnr. that the current drainage infrastructure in the area is woefully inadequate, resulting in frequent flood incidents during the rainy season.
He emphasized the need for government intervention in both building new drains and repairing existing ones to minimize the devastating impact of floods on lives and property.
The ceremony also marked the official transition of leadership from the outgoing NADMO Director, Mr. Hackman Oko, to Mr. Hamidu. Present at the event were officials from the Gomoa East District Assembly and other stakeholders.
Mr. Oko welcomed his successor and pledged his support to ensure a smooth transition and continued efforts toward disaster preparedness and response in the district.
