Entrance University of Health Sciences, has made history with the inauguration of Ghana’s first private university-owned dental hospital, marking a major step forward in healthcare training and delivery.
Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang noted the significance of the achievement, applauding Entrance University for becoming the first private tertiary institution in Ghana to launch a dental school alongside medical and nursing programs.
“It’s a monumental achievement and a major contribution to national development,” she said.

At a colorful ceremony attended by government officials, health professionals, and education leaders, President of Entrance University, Professor Aaron Lawson, described the opening as a “bold stride” in the university’s mission to improve healthcare education and access in Ghana.
“This hospital is not just infrastructure—it’s a response to the national call for more competent, compassionate health professionals,” he said.

The Entrance Dental Hospital, located in the Sprinters area of Accra, will serve a dual role: offering specialized oral care to the public and serving as a clinical training ground for the university’s dental students.

“This is more than just a clinic,” said Nana Samuel Amo Tobbin, CEO of the new facility and Chancellor of the university. “It is equipped with advanced technology, including pediatric units and surgical suites. Our students can do their clinicals right here instead of being sent elsewhere.”
The Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, praised the initiative as a “timely and thoughtful contribution” to closing the healthcare access gap. “Oral health is often overlooked, but this hospital rightly restores it to its rightful place,” he said.

The Entrance Dental Hospital is expected to serve not only the local community but also patients from across the country, providing much-needed dental services and hands-on training for Ghana’s next generation of oral health professionals.
With this milestone, Entrance University continues its evolution from a modest health college in 2018 to a key player in Ghana’s health education sector, fueled by vision, perseverance, and private sector commitment.
