National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has appealed to aggrieved and estranged members of the party to return and help rebuild the NPP as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
He said restoring unity within the party is essential to regaining the confidence of Ghanaians and returning to power.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra,Mr. Afoko urged members who have become disillusioned or distanced themselves from the party to put aside their grievances and rejoin the NPP.
He stressed that every member has a role to play in repositioning the party for electoral victory, declaring, “Come home, the NPP needs you.”
According to Mr. Afoko, the party’s strength has always been rooted in its broad membership and vibrant grassroots.
He noted that no political party can succeed when experienced members and loyal supporters feel sidelined, emphasizing that reconciliation, inclusiveness and mutual respect must guide the party’s rebuilding efforts.
Mr. Afoko pledged to foster greater internal unity and strengthen the party’s structures if elected National Chairman.
He said his administration would prioritize grassroots mobilization, improve communication within the party and create an environment where all members feel valued and actively involved in the party’s activities.
The NPP is expected to elect new national executives as part of its reorganization following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
The race for the National Chairmanship has largely centered on restoring party unity, rebuilding confidence among the rank and file, and preparing the party to support its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 elections.
