The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to three separate fire incidents recorded across the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
At Kaneshie Presby, personnel from the Industrial Area Fire Station contained a fire that broke out in the garage of a five-bedroom house. Firefighters successfully prevented the blaze from spreading to the main building, salvaging all five bedrooms and their contents. However, a solar battery was destroyed in the incident.
At Burma Hills, the Trade Fair Fire Station responded to a fire at an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) secondary sub-station. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which caused partial damage to the facility. No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, at Abelempke, the Legon Fire Station carried out cooling operations following a domestic fire that had already been extinguished before firefighters arrived.
Although the fire destroyed a control panel and four solar batteries, firefighters were able to salvage a four-bedroom apartment, three cars, four polytanks, two water pumps and a generator set.
The GNFS said the causes of all three incidents remain under investigation.
The Service continues to urge residents to exercise caution and observe fire safety measures to help prevent domestic and electrical fires and minimise damage when incidents occur.
