Contestants from 12 countries have arrived in Accra to participate in this year’s Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC) and the Pan-African House initiative.
The contestants were welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport ahead of a 30-day stay in Ghana, where they will take part in cultural exchange, tourism and trade promotion activities.
Speaking at the airport, President of the African Chamber of Content Producers, Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin, said the initiative was aimed at promoting African unity and strengthening ties among people across the continent and the diaspora.
He explained that the contestants would live together in the Pan-African House, with each participant representing their respective country.
According to him, the programme will bring together representatives from countries including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Botswana, Benin, Cameroon, Senegal and the Republic of Congo, as well as the United States representing the African diaspora.
Mr Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin said Ghana would use the opportunity to showcase its culture and hospitality while promoting its image as the Gateway to Africa.
He expressed hope that the month-long programme would promote intra-African tourism, trade and cultural exchange among participants.
