The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Entrance University of Health Sciences has donated 300 sanitary pads to schoolgirls in the Ledzokuku Municipality as part of its “Pad a Girl” initiative aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and reducing absenteeism among adolescent girls.

The donation and sensitisation programme was held at Martey Tsuru Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School, where students received menstrual hygiene education alongside the sanitary pads.

Organisers said the initiative seeks to address myths surrounding menstruation, improve menstrual hygiene management and ensure girls do not miss school because of their periods.

SRC President Michael Adade Annan said menstrual health remains a major challenge affecting the education of many girls.

He stressed that access to safe menstrual products is essential, not a luxury, adding that the initiative is intended to ensure that no girl is left behind because of menstruation.

Head of Public Relations at Entrance University of Health Sciences, Victoria Osei Prempeh, said the programme goes beyond distributing sanitary pads by equipping girls with the knowledge and confidence to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
