Parents have been urged to protect their children from abuse and child labour by providing them with a safe and supportive environment that promotes education and healthy development.

The call was made by Rosemond A. Opoku, Senior Social Welfare and Community Development Officer for the Ayawaso North Municipality, during a child labour awareness programme organised to educate the public on children’s rights and welfare.

She expressed concern over cases of child abuse and urged parents to take greater responsibility for the care and protection of their children.

A parent, Felicia Tetteh, also appealed to families to stop abusing children and instead encourage them to remain in school.

She stressed the need for parents to create an environment that supports children’s learning, growth and overall well-being.
