Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Chairman hopeful, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has urged newly elected constituency executives to intensify efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected executives in Kumasi, Chairman Wontumi described the 2028 polls as a crucial contest that would require determination, unity and strategic planning.

“We have to face the 2028 general elections like a wounded lion. The task ahead is not easy,” he said.

Reflecting on the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections, Wontumi said the outcome remains painful for the party and should serve as motivation to rebuild and return stronger.

He called on the constituency executives to make informed decisions when electing regional executives, stressing the need for capable leaders who can unite the party and lead it back to power.

Chairman Wontumi also appealed to delegates to support his bid for the position of National Chairman of the NPP, saying his experience and commitment make him well-suited for the role.

“Winning political power is not about speaking good English. It is about commitment, strategy and hard work, and that is what I bring,” he stated.

He further charged the newly sworn-in executives to begin grassroots mobilisation immediately in their respective constituencies to strengthen the party’s structures and reconnect with supporters ahead of the next general election.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by constituency executives from across the Ashanti Region as the party continues its internal reorganisation following the 2024 elections.
