The Deputy National Elections Director of the NDC, Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer, has rejected a report by the Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) which rated President John Dramani Mahama’s administration 4.9 out of 10. He described the report as biased and urged the public to ignore its findings.
Speaking on Newsroom on Bullet TV with Micheal Addo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Sofo Tanko claimed the think tank lacked credibility and suggested its assessment was politically motivated.
According to him, the government has been in office for less than two years and should not be judged as though it had completed a full term. He argued that the administration inherited major economic and infrastructure challenges from the previous government and is working to address them.
He also defended the government’s record, saying the Mahama administration has so far avoided major corruption scandals and introduced measures to ensure accountability among public officials. He said government appointees are now required to justify how public funds will be used before spending is approved.
Sofo Tanko further stated that the government has stabilised the economy and strengthened the Ghana cedi against the US dollar. He expressed confidence that more policies and programmes would soon improve the lives of Ghanaians, insisting that the Mahama administration remains on course despite the criticisms raised in the report.
