The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially closed the filing of nominations for its 2026 National Officers Elections, with forty-seven aspirants successfully submitting their completed nomination forms.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced that the filing process officially closed at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
According to the Committee, a total of fifty persons had earlier purchased nomination forms to contest various national executive positions, but three aspirants failed to proceed with the filing process.
They are Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who had picked forms to contest the National Chairperson position; Evans Kodom, who was seeking the National Communications Director position; and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, a National Women Organiser aspirant.
The NOEC said Bernard Antwi Boasiako formally communicated his decision to withdraw from the race, expressing appreciation to the Party and the Elections Committee for the opportunity to participate in the process.
Evans Kodom also stepped out of the contest during the filing process, leaving Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the only aspirant proceeding to the vetting stage for the position of National Communications Director.
The Committee noted, however, that Aboagye’s status as a potentially unopposed candidate remains subject to successfully completing the vetting process and meeting all other applicable requirements.
With the filing of nominations now concluded, the NPP will move to the vetting stage, which is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 31, to Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The vetting exercise will begin with aspirants for the National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer positions on Monday.
Aspirants seeking the National Vice Chairperson positions will be vetted on Tuesday, followed by those contesting for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday.
The final day of vetting will focus on aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The National Officers Elections Committee has assured aspirants, party members and the general public of its commitment to conducting a fair, transparent and credible electoral process in accordance with the NPP Constitution and applicable election rules.
The Committee also called on all aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes mutual respect, party unity and confidence in the integrity of the election process.
