Virtue International School has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a call for greater investment in quality education, innovation and skills development.
The celebration, held under the theme, “Celebrating 20 Years of Service and Trust – Impacting Lives,” brought together educators, students, parents, alumni and other stakeholders.
President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, who chaired the event, praised the founders and staff for their commitment to education over the years.
He said the role of schools goes beyond preparing students to pass examinations.
“A teacher does not simply teach a subject; a teacher helps shape a mind,” he said, urging teachers not to underestimate their influence on students.
Mr Dwumfour also encouraged students to take their education seriously, stressing that character, discipline and skills were equally important for success.
The Founder and Proprietor of the school, General Apostle Solomon Asare Sarkodie, described the journey as one of sacrifice and perseverance. He said the vision began about 28 years ago with the Paa Solo Extra Classes before the establishment of Virtue International School 20 years ago.
He appealed to the government to support individuals and organisations with innovative ideas that could create jobs and help reduce unemployment.
The Headmistress of Accra Girls Senior High School, Mrs Gifty Andoh, also advised students to prioritise their education and avoid allowing mobile phones to distract them from their studies.
