Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Secretary for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Kwaku Noah, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) District Director for the area, Madam Eunice Bonsi, of interfering in the party’s internal electoral processes.
Mr Noah made the allegation after honouring a police invitation over a complaint lodged against him by the EC District Director.
According to him, the NPP’s disputed constituency elections had been placed under an injunction following a legal challenge by a party member and former constituency secretary.
He said he decided to intervene and engaged the plaintiff, who he claimed was willing to withdraw the case to allow the elections to proceed.
Mr Noah alleged that the EC District Director later imposed conditions on when the case should be withdrawn before she would agree to supervise the election.
He questioned the EC official’s role in the matter and said he had petitioned the national leadership of the Electoral Commission to investigate her conduct.
Mr Noah also denied allegations that he had threatened the life of the EC District Director.
He said he had cooperated with the police, written his statement and was subsequently granted bail.
EC DIRECTOR RESPONDS
Responding to the allegations, Madam Eunice Bonsi confirmed that she had lodged a complaint with the police against Mr Noah.
She said the complaint followed a telephone conversation between the two.
