The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association has set up an educational memorial fund to cater for the three children of a 37-year old nurse Ruth Eshun who was murdered by unknown assailants at Ayoum in the Ashanti Region.
The nurse was murdered while returning from work.
President of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo says the reason to have the educational fund is to ensure that the children of the deceased do not have their access to education interrupted following their mother’s demise.
As Tuesday, May 12 marked the International Nurses day, Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo launched the Ruth Eshun Educational Memorial Fund together with Mr. Felix Nyante, Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo said the move will motivate nurses and midwives and also send the signal that they have an association that cares for them.
Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Bernard Oko Boye also consoled the family of Ruth Eshun saying, ‘’I am not a preacher but I’m a follower of Christ and the Bible makes us understand that in all things we must give thanks and Glory to God. He knows best. When some bad things happen in our lives, it sometimes brings something good at the end so we should take solace in our maker, God’’, he said.
