Minority making strong impact despite numbers – Jerry Ahmed

The Second Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, says the Minority in Parliament is making a strong impact despite being outnumbered by the Majority.

Speaking on Bullet TV’s Morning Target hosted by Bright Amfo, Ahmed Shaib said although the Majority has the numbers to push decisions, the Minority focuses on quality contributions and detailed debates to influence national discussions.

He explained that pressure in Parliament is normal for both sides but insisted that the Majority is even under more pressure to deliver on promises to Ghanaians.

Shaib noted that the Minority has been deliberate in its actions, using press conferences, statements, and debates to draw attention to important national issues. He said these efforts help inform the public and ensure government accountability.

According to him, even though some people criticise the Minority for holding frequent press briefings, their work is necessary to keep records for the future and to explain issues clearly to citizens.

He pointed to debates, including discussions on the State of the Nation Address, to show how the Minority presents strong arguments and alternative views.

Shaib stressed that impact in Parliament is not only about numbers but also about substance, consistency, and the ability to speak on issues that matter to the people.

He maintained that the Minority will continue to engage actively and hold the government accountable in the interest of Ghanaians.
