Mahama suspends campaign following Rawlings death

The Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has suspended his six day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region and all campaigns of the NDC following the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Former President of the Republic of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, died after battling a short illness.

Jerry John Rawlings died at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital today, Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 73.

A statement by James Agyenim Boateng, Spokesperson for the Mahama election 2020 campaign team said Rawlings was an iconic figure and founder of the NDC hence the suspension of the flagbearer’s campaign team.

“The presidential candidate of  the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, has suspended his six-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region with immediate effect, following news of the passing of former President Jerry John Rawlings. Mr. Rawlings was an iconic figure and founder of the NDC,” the statement said.
