All is set for the 5th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) headline-sponsored by the Bank of Africa and the Bank of Ghana.
It will be recalled that Accra was OFFICIALLY declared the Commercial Capital of Africa on the 27th of October, 2020 by the then Senior Minister of Ghana who represented H.E President Akufo-Addo, the Mayor of Accra – Hon. Mohammed Adjei-Sowah, AGI and Industry Titans at the 4th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference under the theme; Optimizing AfCFTA for Africans; The Role of Logistics Infrastructure.
The 5th Conference on Trade and Finance is slated for 27th July, 2021 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra (Commercial Capital of Africa).
The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will open the 1-day conference with a Keynote Address under the conference theme; Facilitating Trade and Trade-Finance in AfCFTA; The Role of the Financial Services Sector on behalf of H.E the President of Ghana per a response letter from the Presidency dated 14th June, 2021.
H.E Albert M. Muchanga, African Union Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Mining will deliver a Special Address on behalf of the African Union.
According to the organisers of the programme, the 1st Panel will comprise the Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana – Governor Yedu Addison, the Governor of the Central Bank of Francophone West Africa – Governor Kone, the Governor of the Central Bank of Francophone Central Africa – Governor Tolli and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria – Governor Efele.
The 2nd Panel will comprise the Director General of West Africa Monetary Institute – Dr. Oluwafeso, Director of Research and Macroeconomics of the Ecowas Bank for Investment and Development – Dr. Asenso, Commissioner, National Insurance Commission – Dr. Ofori, and the President of AfDB – Dr. Adesina.
The main theme for the 5th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference is: Facilitating Trade and Trade-Finance in AfCFTA; The Role of the Financial Services Sector and the sub-theme is: Creating an Enabling Macroeconomic Environment in AfCFTA; The Role of the Central Banks in Africa.
The 5th Conference will critically discuss everything within the Pan-African Payment and Settlement Systems ie; Cross Border Payment, Single Currency and issues of delay, Block Chain Technology ie; Digital Currency, Currency Convertibility aside the US Dollar, Monetary Policy/Price Levels, Financial Sector Regulation and Reforms amongst a tall list of other important measures.
Due to the COViD Protocols currently in place, the conference will only admit 200 Participants.

The 5th GITFiC will spend some appreciable time to celebrate Ghana’s Financial Architects ie the Economic Management Team under the Presidency of H.E Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo; the President of the Republic of Ghana with focus on the Central Bank Governor; Dr. Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison,” they added.
The organisers also noted that the media will need a special accreditation to cover this conference.
