Three Civilians Killed as Armed Men Attack Military-Escorted Convoy in Binduri

Three civilians have been killed following an attack on a military-escorted convoy in Ghana’s Upper East Region, the Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed.

In a statement issued on April 27, 2026, the military said the incident occurred in Binduri when unknown assailants opened fire on a convoy under military protection.

The convoy, which was travelling from Bawku to Bolgatanga, came under sustained gunfire, resulting in the deaths of three of the civilians being escorted. One other person sustained injuries.

Military Repels Attack

According to the statement, security personnel successfully repelled the attack, killing seven of the assailants in the process.

The military added that during follow-up operations, weapons and ammunition were recovered from one of the suspects who attempted to hide in a mosque. Items retrieved included a G3 rifle, loaded magazines, and additional rounds of ammunition.

Ten other suspects have since been arrested and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

Warning to the Public

The Ghana Armed Forces cautioned the public against interfering in military or security operations, urging civilians to cooperate with authorities to ensure safety.

It also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
