AFCON 21: Kwaku Bonsam reveals cause of Ghana’s abysmal campaign

A renowned traditional priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, says the decision of Ghana’s coach to allow Ayew brothers to play together in the same match is the spiritual cause of Ghana’s AFCON defeat.

Ghana was eliminated in the group stage at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 3-2 loss to tournament debutant Comoros.

Ghana fell behind in the fourth minute and had Captain Andre Ayew harshly sent off in the 25th, and was 2-0 down in the 61st.

The Black Stars leveled with two goals in 13 minutes late in the game, only to concede again when Comoros winger, Ahmed Mogni, swept his second goal in the 85th minute.

Ghana has made at least the semifinals in six of the last seven African Cups and was last dumped out in the group stage in 2006.

Ghana finished last in Group C with the loss to Comoros.

In an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, A renowned traditional priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam said Ghana will always miss out anytime Dede Ayew and Jordan Ayew  play in the same match.

According to the traditionalist, it is spiritually wrong for two persons born of the same parents to play in the same match.

“The Black Stars belong to all Ghanaians and not any family in Ghana.  Before the AFCON tournament I granted interviews and made it known that the coach should not pair the Ayew brothers at the same time. They are from the same womb and so they should not play at the same time. Look at how well Jordan played when Ayew was benched after receiving a red card,” Kwaku Bonsam added.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam also revealed that Ghana will suffer the same defeat if we allow Jordan Ayew and Dede Ayew play in a particular match at the same time.
