Two former teachers of Pantang Nursing still taking salaries; PAC calls for their arrest

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, Hon. James Avedzi Kluste has directed the Principal of Pantang Nursing and Midwifery School to get in touch with the Director of Interpol to provide the necessary information on Mad. Afua Nyarkoa, a former Teacher of Pantang Nursing and Midwifery College.

Mad. Afua Nyarkoa has allegedly been receiving monthly salary although she is no more in office.

It was noted that already, she has received an amount of GH¢69,069. 000 although she knew she was not entitled to.

For his part, Mr. James Avedzi stated that Mad. Afua Nyarkoa has caused financial loss to the State and therefore called on the Director of Interpol to track her location for government to retrieve the taxpayers’ money.

The other teacher whose name is withheld also owes the school an amount of about GH¢13,000.

Mr. Avedzi also urged the Administrator of the School, Mr. Betrand Yabani who issued payment voucher to also appear before the Committee.

“If their relatives are listening to us, they should make the effort and contact the school immediately and make the appropriate arrangements and pay the money,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Public Account Committee has started sittings to consider the public hearing of the 2018 Auditor-Generals report covering events of 2017.

In other news: Roads Minister to turn tollbooths into decent washrooms for motorists

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, has announced government’s decision torefurbish all tollbooth structures to provide proper and decent washrooms for the use by motorists.

Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, has announced that government has abolished all road tolls.

Presenting the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government on the floor of Parliament today Wednesday 17th November 2021, Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta mentioned that a new levy will be imposed to make the toll paying more universal.

He mentioned that over the years, the tolling points have become unhealthy market centres, led to heavy traffic on our roads.
