PNC scribe scores NPP's 1D 1F grade "D" and "F"

0

The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention Party, (PNC) Atik Mohammed, has equated the NPP’s 1 District 1 Factory Policy to the worst grade in the West African Secondary School Exams Certificate(WASSCE) “D” and “F”.

According to the PNC scribe, the much touted One-District, One-Factory policy which the NPP made political capital out of has   been a total failure. In that regard, he said the policy can be likened to WASSCE grades “D” and “F” connoting a failure in terms of his assessment.

Speaking on Accra based Asempa FM on Thursday, Atik noted that he was full of hope when the NPP announced their intention to execute the 1 D 1 F policy, but however, his hopes has been dashed with what is happening on the ground.  “If the NPP government had invested much into the one district, one factory project a lot of unemployment situations would have been addressed in the country…there wouldn’t have been the need to introduce the NABCO policy, When I first heard of the One-district, One-factory policy, I said to myself that it was the game changer, but the progress of the policy has been very slow with not much to show” he said.

He was of however of the view that, that are several prospects going forward with regards to executing the policy effectively.

As part of its campaign promises the NPP in its 2016 manifesto promised   an industrial policy, 1D1F to address youth unemployment and also help drive Ghana’s industrialization efforts. Some works have begun on the establishment of new factories and the rejuvenating of non-operational factories in Ghana but critics have continuously lambasted the government for the slow pace of the much touted policy.

Ghana witnesses drop in maternal and child mortality rate

0

Ghana has witnessed a considerable drop in Maternal Child Mortality rate in recent times as a result of various interventions put in place by Government and its donor partners.

The Acting Government Statistician, Baah Wadieh, made the disclosure at a ceremony to launch the 2017 Maternal Health Survey Report in Accra Thursday.

The 2017 maternal health survey is the second in Ghana and is among the six demographic and Health Surveys implemented between 1988 and 2017 to provide the government of Ghana and its partners the data to make evidence based decisions to improve maternal and child health situations in Ghana.

According to the Government Statistician, there has been a remarkable improvement in the maternal health indicators since the conduct of the first maternal health survey in 2007.

According to the 2017 Ghana Maternal Health survey (GMHS) report, mothers in Ghana are healthier now than before and are able to secure and access health care.

According to the report,  the number of women delivering in various  health facilities has increased   over the past 10 years- from 54% in 2007 to 79% in 2017.  The Acting Government Statistician ascribed  the reason to more women receiving antenatal care from skilled providers.

Nevertheless, Mr. Wadieh admonished the state to step up its  effort in tackling  maternal health  and child mortality as 1 out of 19 Ghanaian children die before their fifth birthday.

0

A Pastor, Kumi Acheaw, who was into occultism has exposed some demonic anointing oils currently being used by some pastors in Ghana.

Pastor Acheaw says that he was an occult grandfather  and  that mallams, pastors, diviners and priests thronged his place to collect some of these evil oils for use.

Interacting with Pastor Martin Semordzie on “Obi Adi M’awu” Wednesday, Pastor Kumi said that there are currently several anointing oils being used by pastors which are not “Godly” as purported by these men of God.

Mentioning the types of anointing oils that are demonic, he made mention of  “crowd puller oil”, “Instant Miracle Oil” and an all in one oil which is labeled differently by pastors as breakthrough oil, favour oil or charming oil.

He put across that pastors who use the “Crowd Puller Oil” experience church growth by way of controversies.

“The spirit behind this type of anointing oils makes those pastors commit  very controversial deeds or say something very controversial and as they gain milleage  through  media disccusions , the more they experience church growth” he said.

Explaining how these oils are prepared by pastors and people in occultism, he said that, the crowd puller oil is prepared with the use of water acquired from the body of corpses, sea water, “Ada” salt in addition to any other oil he prefers. He noted that this kind of oil is used to draw crowds to the pastor’s church and even when a trader in the pastor’s church uses it, it will draw a lot of people to his\her business.

He also mentioned that the “instant miracle oil” is prepared and used by occult pastors to perform instant healings and other instant miracles just as the name of the oil suggests.

He added that there is another type of oil that is all in one but is labeled differently by pastors as “favour oil”, “breakthrough oil” and “charming oil”. He revealed  that this type of oil is used to attract  favours for users  and others purposes.

He revealed that when people go in for this type of oil, they are able to attract the favour of people without any difficulty. He said that all their request from other people are granted them.

He also mentioned that the “instant miracle oil” is prepared and used by occult pastors to perform instant healings and other instant miracles just as the name of the oil suggests.

He revealed that when people go in for this type of oil, they are able to attract the favour of people without any difficulty. He said that all their request from other people are granted them.

Speaking further he mentioned another type of oil that pastors use which is called “Emergency Oil”. He said  this type of oil is used to cause accidents by these pastors. He explained that such  pastors normally cause these  accidents when  their prohesies comes into doubt .

He also mentioned that the “Emergency Oil” is used to inflict diseases on  flocks  in order for them to go back to these "False " pastors for healing of  which the “instant Miracle Oil” would be used for their healing.

Not only did he make mention of these types of oils, he said  there is another type of oil called the “All Purpose Oil” which is prepared with the mixture of male semen and female discharges.

Pastor Kumi unequivocally stated that, all pastors who sell anointing oils in their churches are not of God and that Christians must absolutely abstain from such pastors.

In this regard he has cautioned all Christians to abstain from pastors who sell anointing oils and pastors who use these kinds of “anointing oils” in their churches because the implications of the use of these oils are very dire.

“Obi Adi M’awu” programme comes on air at 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, every week day on Atinka FM, 104.7 MHz.

Bagbin’s “stammerer” comments derogatory, erodes our confidence – Stammering Assoc.

0

Ghana Stammering Association has described as unfortunate comments by a National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant, Alban Bagbin, that Dr Omane Boamah stammers and as a result, wasn’t fit for the job of a communications minister.

Mr. Bagbin is reported to have told party communicators in the Volta Region that former President John Mahama made an uninformed  decision by appointing Dr Edward Omane Boamah as Communications Minister because he stammers.

Hon. Bagbin  is reportedly quoted as saying ;“If you are not whole can you be a chief or a queen mother? So when you form a government and make the Minister for Chieftaincy a blind person and the chiefs are objecting and you don’t change it, what are you telling the chiefs? These are facts I am stating. I have not added anything. You all know it but you may not have appreciated the impact of what happened. And when some of us are close and can foresee it and we see it, then you are somewhere and you are telling people to insult us.

“It is not a chief that speaks, it is a linguist. So if you are a leader you must have a very good linguist. When Prof [Evans Atta Mills] was in power, Haruna Iddrisu was our linguist – in charge of communication. When our brother John came to power, he substituted him for Dr Omane, who is a natural stammerer. Who is a natural stammerer? He is a very intelligent boy. Smart. But when he is speaking he wastes time in coming out. Ghanaians don’t have that much patience.”

But President of the Stammerers Association, Elias Apraku describes Mr Bagbin’s comments as offensive and has, therefore, called on him to retract and apologise immediately.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka FM’s AM Drive on Thursday, he noted that the association highly condemns his comments and subsequently seek an apology to Dr. Omane Boamah and to all persons who stammer, failure of which he said   will erode the confidence of Stammerers who desire to take up Communication jobs.

Elias Nyamekye, President of the Stammerers Association, in registering the groups displeasure over the Statement made by Ghana’s longest serving Legislature, said they expected more from Hon. Bagbin based on his stature as a law maker who should be tabling motions in parliament to help address issues concerning the marginalized in society but not  statements that make mockery of them.

The group according to its President demands   an unqualified apology from Hon. Bagbin to the Former Communications Minister or they petition Parliament.

Atinka News Barimah Saakwah reported that, Mr Mahama was not present there himself but his aides were there to do the presentation on his behalf.

The party recently asked all party members who hope to run for the flagbearship to present their official declaration of intent to the party ahead of the official opening of nominations.

Eight men have already tendered in their letters. Mr Mahama completed the process by submitting his letter.

Mahama in politics

Mahama, aged 60, entered into politics in 1996 when he was elected to the Parliament to represent the Bole/Bamboi Constituency for a four-year term.

He was re-elected in 2000 and 2004.

During this time, he served as the Deputy Minister of Communications in 1997, Minister of Communications from 1998 until 2001, Minority Parliamentary Spokesman for Communications from 2001 until 2005, and Minority Parliamentary Spokesman for Foreign Affairs from 2005 until 2008.

On 7th January 2009, Mr. Mahama became the Vice-President of Ghana after the NDC’s election 2008.

He remained in that position until President John Atta Mills’ death on 24 July 2012, when in line with Ghana’s Constitution, he became President of the Republic.

In December 2012, he became President of Ghana for a four-year term after a contentious election which was eventually resolved after an eight-month-long tussle at the Supreme Court over the validity of the results.

Despite leading the NDC to the worst election performance by an incumbent, Mr. Mahama still retained significant support from the party.

He was a mainstay in NDC’s unity walks aimed at reorganizing the party, and he also elicited massive support from the grassroots, which continually urged him to declare his intent to make a run for the Presidency.

The 10 Regional Chairmen of the NDC in 2017 also backed the candidature of Mr. Mahama for election 2020.

Persons with disability turn up heat on Bagbin over 'offensive comments'

0

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Aspirant, Alban Bagbin, is facing pressure from disability groups to apologise over comments they describe as demeaning.

Mr. Bagbin is reported to have told party communicators in the Volta Region that former President John Mahama made a bad decision by appointing Dr Edward Omane Boamah as Communications Minister because he stammers.

These are the comments he made:

“If you are not whole can you be a chief or a queen mother? So when you form a government and make the Minister for Chieftaincy a blind person and the chiefs are objecting and you don’t change it, what are telling the chiefs? These are facts I am stating. I have not added anything. You all know it, but you may not have appreciated the impact of what happened. And when some of us are close and can forsee it and we see it, then you are somewhere and you are telling people to insult us.

Who is a natural stammerer. He is a very intelligent boy. Smart. But when he is speaking he wastes time in coming out. Ghanaians don't have that much patience."

The comments have been described by persons with visual and speech impairments as offensive.

President of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations Yaw Ofori Debrah has described Mr Bagbin’s comment as disappointing and wants an apology.

Also, President of the Stammers Association, Elias Apraku, says the comments by the Presidential Aspirant will entrench stigmatisation against people who stammer and erode their confidence in the workplace.

Mr Bagbin is yet to respond to the criticisms.

STATEMENT BY PERSONS WHO STAMMER ON DISPARAGING COMMENTS BY SECOND DEP SPEAKER

Our attention has been drawn to a very damning soundbite on stammerers from the second deputy speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

On the voice clip, the Second Deputy Speaker was heard clearly alluding that Dr. Omane Boamah was not fit to occupy the Communications Ministry because he is a stammerer.

We find his description of the former minister not only unguarded, reckless and infantile but an attack on all well-meaning stammerers in the Communications Industry.

Stammering is a speech disorder which impairs one’s speech flow, but that cannot, with all due respect to the Mr. Bagbin be used as a yardstick to judge one’s competency.

We note with concern that his unguarded attack on the former minister could discourage many stammerers from going into politics and public service.

It’s against this backdrop that we demand a full apology on behalf of Dr. Omar Boamah from the Nadowli Kaleo constituency while cautioning him to desist from passing comments which have the potential of undermining the intellectual capacities of people with physical impairment.
