Abrepo: Police fire tear gas at protesting Islamic students; parents angry (Video)

Students of the Islamic Senior High School at Kumasi Abrepo Junction in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti Region clashed with officers of the Ghana Police Service during a demonstration held at the school.

According to reports, the protest which started peacefully resulted in the firing of gunshots and tear gas by the police.

It is unclear what triggered the police to fire shots into the demonstrating crowd but some say the police opened tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Due to this, it was reported that about 20 students passed out and were rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, some unhappy parents stormed the school to demand the release of their wards following the incident.
