ADB supports 23rd GJA Awards with GHc100, 000

The Agricultural Development Bank, (ADB) one of the largest indigenous banks in the country, has supported the 23rd Ghana Journalist Awards with a whopping GHC 100,000.

The cash donation was made by Dr. John Kofi Mensah, Managing Director of the Bank at its headquarters in Accra Tuesday.

Addressing journalists during the presentation, Dr. Mensah maintained that the role of journalists in ensuring a stronger democratic dispensation is vital and that there was the need to support them. He noted that although this was the first time the Bank is supporting the course, his outfit will do well to support other developmental issues when it comes to dealing with the GJA.

Dr. Kofi Mensah entreated journalists to do more in educating the public on issues relating to financial literacy and agriculture.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the GJA, President Affail Monney lauded the Managing Director for displaying great media literacy. He also thanked the bank for displaying such generosity in times where most banks in the regimes have either collapsed or wallowing in debt.

The GJA flagship event which seeks to reward hardworking journalists is scheduled for Saturday, October 27 2018, at the Kempinski  Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

This year’s event, which is under the theme: “State of Investigative Journalism: Boundaries of Privacy and Borders of Public Interest” will have the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo as the Special Guest of Honour and Professor Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu as the Speaker.
