Egypt came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Ghana in Group B of the ongoing African Cup Nations in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Mohammed Kudus snatched the opportunity to score his first goal and also in his first AFCON appearance after Ghana’s Head Coach Chris Hughton gave him a role in the starting lineup.
In an interview with the media, Mohammed Kudus whose performance won him the Man of the Match award said, “We conceded two goals from silly mistakes, Egypt is a good side and we need to learn from that and focus on the next game, even though we got a point I felt we deserve more”.
“Our ultimate goal for all of us is to win the trophy, but sub- goal is also to qualify from our group to the next stage of the competition”.
When asked whether Mohammed Salah’s injury helped Ghana, the West Ham United midfielder said “Salah is a top player, but my focus was on my team, with or without him (Salah) we still played with the same mentality, I wish him a speedy recovery,” He added.
Ghana Black Stars will face Mozambique in their last group B game at Stade Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpe on Monday, January 22, 2024.
