Special Prosecutor will hold all officials accountable

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given the assurance that the Office of the Special Prosecutor will make sure that past and present public officials are held to account for their actions.

“My hope and expectation is that the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor is going to be an important step in our collective determination to root out corruption in the public life of our country.

“All of us know it is  a major  bane in the  development  of Ghana and, hopefully, this office will make sure  that public officials, past and present  are held to account for their actions,” he affirmed.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday gave Presidential Assent to Assent to 5 Bills, namely; Office of Special Prosecutor Bill; Zongo Development Fund Bill; Coastal Development Authority Bill; Middle Belt Development Authority Bill; and the Northern Development Authority Bill.

“These are some of the most important elements of the NPP’s 2016 Manifesto, on which we were elected into office, and they have now found legislative expression,” the president said during a media interaction at the Flagstaff House.

President Akufo Addo was also hopeful that the three development authorities will play critical roles in ensuring rapid development at the grassroots.
