The unsuccessful NPP presidential aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has explained the reason behind the use of the famous butterfly as his brand logo as he seeks to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, on Monday, September 25, 2023 announced that he had resigned from the party.

The former Minister of Trade, who also announced his bid to contest the 2024 polls as an independent candidate, complained about supposed divisiveness in the NPP and alleged hostile attacks on himself and his supporters for more than a decade now.

At the press conference where he announced his resignation, the former trade minister revealed butterfly as his brand logo going for the 2024 general elections.

After the announcement, the choice of brand logo sparked some controversy on social media with others wondering the choice made by the former Minister.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on TV3 monitored by atinkaonline.com, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen gave reasons for the choice of brand logo.

“It symbolizes change, it symbolizes hope. The brand logo for the movement is the monarch butterfly which politically symbolizes change and transformation, hope and positivity.”

“It also communicates strength, endurance, spirituality, and trust which are all key traits that I cherish as a political leader,” he added.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in general has responded to the action by the former minister describing his resignation as disappointing.

The disappointing part is the mode in which he decided to resign from the party, which was through a press conference without prior notice to the party. The Party wants to believe that by his decision to hold the press conference to resign without first informing the leadership of the Party suggests that he has made a premeditated and irrevocable decision to resign from the Party.” The party’s general secretary Justine Koduah said at a press conference on Tuesday September 26, 2023.
