Alan’s resignation: “It took me 21 years to be NPP chair”- Ntim

Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has recounted his journey to becoming the Chairman of the party.

This lies on the back of the resignation of former Trade Minister, Alan Kyeremanten.

The unsuccessful NPP presidential aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, on Monday, September 25, 2023 announced that he had resigned from the party.

The former Minister of Trade, who also announced his bid to contest the 2024 polls as an independent candidate, complained about supposed divisiveness in the NPP and alleged hostile attacks on himself and his supporters for more than a decade now.

The party in general has responded to the action by the former minister describing his resignation as disappointing noting the lack of prior notification to the party’s leadership before the public resignation.

“The disappointing part is the mode in which he decided to resign from the party, which was through a press conference without prior notice to the party. The Party wants to believe that by his decision to hold the press conference to resign without first informing the leadership of the Party suggests that he has made a premeditated and irrevocable decision to resign from the Party.” The party’s general secretary Justine Koduah said at a press conference.

In a Facebook post, NPP Chair, Stephen Ayesu Ntim noted the need to exercise patience in realizing a dream.

He recounted how it took him 21 years to become the National Chairman of the NPP.

”It took me 21 years to realise my dream of becoming the National Chairman of the NPP, but I never resigned from the party. I was 44 years old when I started contesting to become the chairman of the party, now at the age of 65, I am the chairman of NPP. Put your trust in God and he will reward you. NPP is the only party we have. Together, we can,” the NPP chairman posted on Facebook.
