Apart from NPP, NDC other 10 aspirants will get less than 4% votes – Ephson

Pollster, Ben Ephson, says the combined results of some presidential aspirants in the impending December 7 polls will not be up to 4%.

According to Ben Epson, apart from the two big political parties, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) who will garner huge votes, the total votes of the other 10 aspirants will not be up to 4% of the entire vote cast.

The Electoral Commission cleared 12 out of the 17 Presidential aspirants who filed to contest the 2020 December elections.

Reacting to the list on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Epson noted that in the 2012 elections, 8 candidates contested the presidential elections, and aside the NPP and NDC candidates, the other 6 had 1.6% out of the total votes.

He added that in the 2016 elections, 7 contested and apart from NDC and NPP, the other 5 had 8% out of the total votes cast.

According to Ben Ephson, if we are to go by the results from the 2012 and the 2016 elections, then aside NPP and NDC, the combined results of the other 10 political parties will not be more than 4% of the total vote cast.

Ben Ephson also noted that apart from the big political parties in Ghana, the other smaller parties as well as independent candidates give contracts to people to endorse their nomination forms.

“Apart from the big political parties who have offices in all the regions, the independent candidates as well as the smaller parties do not have offices and so do not go round, but give the endorsement contracts to people who sometimes mislead them,” he added.
