Dec 7 ballot: NPP is number one, NDC number 2

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has secured the first position on the presidential ballot paper for the upcoming December 7, 2020 elections.

The National Democratic Congress also secured the second position on the ballot after all 11 presidential candidates balloted for their positions on the ballot paper at the EC head office in Accra on Tuesday,  October 20, 2020.GUM came 3rd, CPP 4th, GFP 5th, GCPP 6th, APC 7th,LPG 8th, PNC 9th, PPP 10th,NDP 11 and then the Independent candidate comes at the 12 th position.

On Tuesday, all qualified presidential candidates, President Nana Akufo-Addo, Christian Kwabena Andrew’s, Mrs. Bridgete Dzorgbenuku,Former President John Dramani Mahama, Akua Donkor, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Hassan Ayariga, Ivor Greenstreet, Henry Herbert Lartey, Kofi Akpaloo,  David Apesera balloted for their positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming December 7, 2020 elections.

The balloting took two forms/ stages, the first stage was to determine the order of picking of the balls and the second was to determine the position on the ballot paper.

Although all 12 qualified presidential aspirants were present, only the presidential candidates of political parties were allowed to partake in the balloting, with the exception of the Independent candidate, Alfred Kwame Walker who was not allowed to ballot for his position on the paper.

The Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations at the EC, Mr samuel Tettey stated that the positions secured on the ballot papers applies to all parliamentary candidates.

Although the process of balloting was very smooth and transparent, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor expressed dissatisfaction of the process, claiming that was not transparent enough.

Meanwhile, the only Independent candidate, Kwame walker also expressed disappointment in the EC for calling all 12 and not allowing him to partake in the balloting.

“If the EC made us aware that we will not take part in the balloting we would not have come here. The EC should know that we all paid the same amount of money and therefore we also deserved the right to partake in the balloting,” he said.

He however, urged Ghanaians to stop the narrative of voting for the NPP and the NDC and shift the attention to his party.

Madam Akua Donkor, the Presidential candidate for Ghana Freedom Party was also excited for picking 5, saying that God himself will vote for her to become the president of the country.

She also stated that she was not intimidated by the NDC or the NPP, urging her supporters to vote massively for her come December 7.
