Apologise to Ghanaians and resign- Gyan to Black Stars Management

A Former National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan has urged all members of the management of the Ghana Black Stars to apologise to Ghanaians and resign .

This is due to the abysmal performance of the Ghana Blackstars during its appearance at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast and previous tournaments .

The Black Stars were knocked out of the tournament at the group stage after failing to get an outright win in any of its games.

The team lost to Mozambique at Abidjan’s Alassane Ouattara Stadium during a match in their final Group B Match.

Ghana took an initial lead with two goals but within the added time of 6 minutes, Mozambique scored 2 goals, settling for a draw.

This made Ghanaians very furious with some supporters expressing their frustrations after the match.

After the team was ousted, the Coach, Christopher Hughton was sacked without any report.

Speaking about this on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan said the Ghana Football Association should have apologised long ago to Ghanaians over the performance of the team.

He said no one is going after the Ghana Football Association, however, he noted that it is the government that takes care of the financial needs of the national teams so the Government should be bold enough to tell the management committee members to step down for competent football managers to take over.

According to him, things will remain the same if no action is taken by government.

“If you have sacked the coach, you should have all resigned for breaking the hearts of Ghanaians, step down for others to take over,” he said.
