An articulated truck carrying a 40-footer container has fallen on its side on the Nkrumah Circle, ‘Dubai’ Interchange.
The truck, with registration number, AS 4258 N was believed to be heading towards the Industrial Area from Ring Road when the accident occurred.
It is unclear what caused the accident, but eye witness’ account indicated that the driver who used the highest overpass lost control on the gears, which made the vehicle draw back, and fell unto the ground.
According to reports by Atinka Fm, the truck was carrying soda chemicals while it crashed into the metals on the side of the bridge, resulting into the fall of the vehicle.
At the time the incident occurred, reports indicated that there were no vehicles around and so the truck fell flat on the ground without harming any vehicles or persons.
Although no deaths were recorded, the situation had caused massive traffic.
Meanwhile, the driver who according to eye-witness was alone in the truck vanished from the scene immediately the incident occurred.
However, personnel from Road Safety, the Ghana National Fire Service and the police were around to control the situation.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Nima Division of the MTTD, Augustina Enti, urged drivers not to use the highest overpass when they have such heavy loads on their vehicles.
