The Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Hon. Ernest Kumi, has tragically passed away, sources within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) confirmed.

His death comes as a shock to the political establishment and the nation at large, particularly to constituents in the Eastern Region, where he served with dedication and distinction.

Born on Wednesday, December 5, 1984, in Akim Wenchi, Hon. Kumi rose through the ranks of politics and public service with a reputation for excellence, integrity, and an unyielding commitment to national development.

A devout Christian, he was known for combining his faith with his public life, often described by colleagues as humble, principled, and visionary.

Hon. Kumi’s life was marked by academic brilliance and professional discipline. He held several degrees across diverse fields, reflecting a deep intellectual curiosity and commitment to self-improvement. His educational background includes:

Before venturing fully into frontline politics, Hon. Kumi served in the private sector with distinction.

He was a Senior Manager at American Tower Corporation, where he held portfolios in Securities, Administration, and Financial Reporting Services (FRS).

Colleagues at ATC recall a man who brought diligence, discipline, and leadership to every task.

His passing leaves a vacuum not only in his constituency but also within the NPP, where he was seen as a rising star and potential ministerial material. Party leadership has expressed deep sorrow and promised to honour his legacy.

As Ghana mourns this irreplaceable loss, tributes continue to pour in from across the political divide, civil society, and constituents who knew him as a man of action and heart.

Hon. Ernest Kumi is survived by his family, whose privacy is respectfully requested at this time.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
