Unconfirmed reports emanating from the ongoing by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon suggests that one person has been shot dead while six others have sustained severe injuries at the La-Bawuleshie Presby school polling station.
According to an eye witness who spoke to Atinka TV’s Kwaku Atiemo, who is stationed at La-Bawaleshie Polling station, stated that six masked men in black attacked electorates amidst warning shots.
He noted that the “men in black” aimed at the electorates who at this time had started seeking shelter in the classrooms of the La- Bawaleshie Presby School injuring seven people in the process.
Unconfirmed reports, however, indicates that one of the seven has been reported dead. The others six are receiving treatment at the Legon hospital.
The by- elections at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency currently is underway.
This exercise is to elect a new Member of Parliament to replace the late NPP’s Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko who passed on in November.
88,000 voters are expected to cast their ballots in the by-election.
New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) have presented candidates to contest the seat.
The candidates are Ms Lydia Seyram Alhassan, NPP; Kwasi Delali Brempong, NDC; William Dowokpor, PPP, and Clement Boadi of the LPG.
