Chief Imam condemns Nima-Mamobi violence

The office of the National Chief Imam has condemned the act of violence which took place in Nima on Tuesday between youthful groups of Nima and Mamobi.

He made this statement when 16 regional chief Imams paid a visit to the National Chief Imam at Fadama.

Some videos which circulated on social media indicated that there was a clash between two youth groups at Nima and Mamobi.

Although it is unclear what caused the clashed, some eyewitnesses suspect the youth groups were fighting over shisha.

The perpetrators were seen firing guns in-discriminatory at their opponents while others were seen holding machetes and sticks.

Police reports indicate that three persons were seriously injured as a result of the clash .

A close shot revealed one of the victims had deep cuts on the back and the arm with a lot of blood oozing profusely.

Another victim was also sighted with a deep cut on the ear.

Speaking to the media, the Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, said the incident which happened yesterday was an eyesore and must not be entertained.

He therefore encouraged Muslim youth across the country to uphold the principle of respect for the sanctity for human blood.

Director of Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), Abu Issah, has disclosed that the Chief Executive Officer of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, otherwise known as NAM1 was engaged in money laundering.

He made this known when he appeared before the financial and economic division of the High Court on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Lawyer Abu Issah then moved the application for the auctioning of some properties of NAM1 and Menzgold.

“We have a motion on notice for the discharge of confirmation and further prayer for official auction for the properties of respondents (Menzgold) and NAM1,” Lawyer Abu Issah said in court reported.
