Coronavirus: MOH’s 6-hour update interval scary – UN ambassador

An Ambassador for the United Nations (UN), Bishop Bernard Owusu, says the nation needs consistent update of the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) dedicated website and not a 6-hour update interval.
Twenty-four (24) of these have been confirmed at the laboratory as COVID-19.
Twenty-three of the confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation and one (1) of the cases who had underlying chronic pulmonary condition prior to having COVID-19 has died.
Over 575 contacts have been identified and are being tracked. All the other twenty-three (23) confirmed cases are being managed in isolation and are doing well on treatment.
All public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, have been suspended for the next four (4) weeks.
The Ministry of health has created a dedicated website http://www.ghanahealthservice.org/covid19/ to provide period update on coronavirus to the general public.
The website provides a 6-hour interval updates on the state of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
But speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, An ambassador for the United Nations (UN), Bishop Bernard Owusu, says the world in currently in a state of emergency and that a 6-hour interval for updates will not help matters.
He added that the website should be the first point of contact for every Ghanaian looking out for credible update on the pandemic in order to stop the spread of fake news especially in this era.
“This is a worldwide issue and thus we do not need 6 hours to be updated on the coronavirus pandemic. We are in an emergency situation and we should informed as and when new updates drop. Even if there are no cases in a day, the website should be let us know,” he said.
He noted that the website should also provide the general public with information as to how the cases are being managed at the laboratories and the various hospitals and clinics.
Bishop Bernard Owusu has also called for a total lockdown for residents in Accra and Kumasi.
