Coronavirus: Church of Pentecost suspend church activities; declares fasting for Ghana

The Church of Pentecost has suspended all church services, retreats, conferences revivals and funerals for the next four week in line with government’s directive.
Health authorities last Sunday afternoon announced that six cases of the disease have been recorded in the country.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Sunday evening announced that all public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, are to be suspended for the next four (4) weeks.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, also directed the Church to suspend all weddings for the next four weeks.
The 2020 Easter convention which falls within the four-week ban has also been cancelled. The second part of the Apostilization programme scheduled for Monday 23rd March to 28th March has been postponed.
In the next four weeks, the Church has asked its members to dedicate every Friday for fasting and praying for the nation and the world against the epidemic.
In the interim, the Church has asked members to intensify intercessory prayers at individual and family levels.
“The leadership has decided to reorganize the activities and programs on PENT TV to meet the spiritual needs of the members. Members are encouraged to patronize PENT TV and other social media platforms of the church. Ministers, officers and the entire membership are encouraged to use the social media and other electronic means to reach out to one another. Where possible such programs should be run online. In addition, the use of radio and other local information centers should be intensified.
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Methodist Church Ghana, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Assemblies of God Church Ghana, International Central Gospel Church, Action Chapel International have all released statements complying with the President’s directive.
