Di Asa has made 'plus size women expensive'- contestants

It was a hearbreaking moment for some women who were turned away by the registrars at the Madina Market because they could not reach the weight requirements.

Di Asa is a flagship programme of the Atinka Media village which is originally organised to promote healthy lifestyle among plus size women.

To qualify for the competition, a  woman needs to have the plus size physique, including reaching a certain  weight.

The women who qualify to contest are mostly engaged in dance competitions including other educative sessions.

For the past two years, the award -winning show has caught the eyes of many Ghanaians and even beyond Africa, due to it's uniqueness and dynamism.

Di Asa has always presented attractive prizes to winners, including those participated.

To a lot of Ghanaian women, the programme was attractive such that they wanted to participate, even though they could not meet the basic requirements.

Some ladies who could not qualify  for the Madina audition on Monday expressed a sense of disappointment for not being considered, even though they knew their weights were not enough.

Whien they were being  turned away, one of the plus size women who qualified commented that, "Di Asa has made plus size women expensive now o,".

According to her, before the introduction of the award-winning show, "people disparaged plus size women, but due to Di Asa, people now want to eat and become big".

The show, however, will come off soon at the Madina Market.
