In a statement by the EC, it noted that,”The Commission wishes to inform the General Public that due to a number of technical challenges, the District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas in the Ashanti and Eastern regions have been rescheduled to Thursday, 21st December, 2023.”

EC added that,”We apologize for the inconveniences caused residents of these Electoral Areas.”

Meanwhile, the EC assured the residents of the affected areas that the District Level Elections will be held on Thursday, the 21st of December, 2023.

On the other hand, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa stated that the District Level Election will be held at all polling stations in all Electoral Areas across the country with the Exception of the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South Districts in the Bono East Region.

Giving an explanation to the exemption at a press briefing held in Accra on Monday, December 18,2023, Mrs Jean Mensa made it known that the tenure of the assembly members and committee members have ended, hence Tuesday’s election.

“The District Level Elections will take place at all polling stations in all electoral areas across the country with the exception of Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South districts in the Bono East Region. This is because both districts had their elections in 2021 instead of 2019, hence the term of office of the assembly and the unit committee of both districts will expire in 2025,”She said.

“All eligible voters are therefore expected to go to their polling centres to cast their votes,” she said.

Mrs Jean Mensa said registered voters whose voter identity cards are missing can still go to the polling centres to cast their votes since their particulars are already in the final register and also their particulars have been inculcated and uploaded in the biometric verification devices.

Therefore, voters who have misplaced their identity cards are still encouraged to their respective polling centres to cast their votes.
