Domelevo guilty of contempt in Kroll case

An Accra High court has found the Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo guilty over a contempt case filed against him by Senior Minister and four officials of the ministry of Finance and Economic planning.
Yao Domelevo was found guilty of contempt after failing to respond to a suit filed by the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, which was challenging a $1m surcharge on him.
The court presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwey accused the AG of the contempt but discharged him imploring his outfit to use the same energy it uses in surcharging public official to filling court responses within the mandatory time frame.
The judge, Justice Botwey noted that due to the important role the Auditor-General plays, she will opt to caution and discharge him rather than sentence him.
She added that evidence before the court shows Mr. Domelevo was properly served and should have done the right thing.
